HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS
1
Local Recruitment
We engage with local communities to identify and select young talent who are passionate and driven to build a conservation career.
2
6-month Training
Students join Bushwise training, living on-site and begin their initial 6 months of vocational training to build their skills.
3
6-month Placement
After training, a 6-month professional placement provides students with practical experience working in a local reserve.
4
Secure Job
Once the full 12-month apprenticeship is complete, our existing network to over 120 partner lodges provides a guaranteed permanent job in conservation.
To provide our talented youth with the best opportunity, we draw upon Bushwise’s 20 years of experience to provide a holistic program that reduces dropout rates and maximizes career opportunities.
Our students are fully integrated and included in the core Bushwise experience, with all the educational and networking benefits this entails.

MONITORING THE JOURNEY
Our Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) platform tracks the student journey and helps us see how we’re progressing towards our vision.
We track enrolment and graduation rates, as well as employment and income levels of our graduates 1, 3 and 5 years down the road. Through close contact with recruitment communities, we’re continually gathering evidence of positive social impacts in the broader network.
We use this information to ensure we’re uplifting our students and their communities, with feedback from employers keeping our curriculum up-to-date with industry standards.
TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNANCE
Long-term support is built through transparency every step of the way.
All funding is administered through a dedicated Public Benefit Organization (PBO), ensuring partners’ capital is dedicated solely to our sponsored students.
Funding partners receive quarterly progress reports and a comprehensive annual impact report with fully audited financial statements.
We’d love for you to join us.
